Personal Circumstances Bring Voter to the Polls

Marcellus, N.Y. (NCC News) – The beginning of November marks the election season nationwide.

One Marcellus parent decided to vote for reasons that stretched beyond politics.

Days before the elections, voter Theresa Hamilton’s brother pasted away.  Her attendance at the polls was the first break she has had from crying the past couple of days. Hamilton said she came out to the polls because she knew that’s what her brother would have wanted.

“He was a veteran and he believed in government and protecting our country and I think that’s what we should be doing,” said Hamilton.

Hamilton brought along her daughter, Emily, because she wanted to show her daughter the importance of voting.

“I’m trying to teach my daughter that if people are going to complain about things then they need to be out here voting,” said Hamilton.
