SYRACUSE, N.Y. (Democracy in Action)– The most important day in politics is here, Election Day 2022. With so many close races across Onondaga County voter turnout will be essential for every political party. Voter turnout is always a question every year, but this year some feel like this election is critical for the future of the country.
“Rights that we assumed we would have for life as an American citizen I think we’re now seeing that they can be jeopardized,”
Said Samantha Connors, a Syracuse resident who went to vote and voice her beliefs.
“Taken away from us if we don’t fight and stand united to keep those rights we will lose our rights we will go back”
Some polls have seen very little traffic in the early afternoon as many voters are working jobs or at school, while some others have seen more traffic on this special day. Namely Pebble Hill Prespertatian Church, the church opened their doors to voters today and have seen a steady flow of voters according to Carol Hooks the sites poll manager.
“The turnout has been amazing. We’ve had almost 600, maybe up to that by now,” She said.
“That’s a lot for this area and that’s even with early voting I mean we’ve had, I worked early voting on Sunday and it was amazing..”
With the importance of the day, you can expect more votes to come in as people get off work and try to have their voices heard on election day. Results will come the next day as we see the people choose who they want to represent them.
