Every Vote Matters at the Huntington Hall Voting Station

SYRACUSE, NY (NCC News) 

Whether they be from the state of New York or not, students came in to register and make their vote count on a variety of issues and positions that impact their community.

Local residents and students of Syracuse University have gathered at the School of Education’s Huntington Hall today to submit their vote on Election Day in Onondaga County.

According to voting systems specialist Kristen Phipps, this year has gone very smoothly with registering out of state voters especially with the introduction of new technology to make the process easier for all ages.  

Sophomore Matthew Ricardi explained why he still wanted to vote despite being from Massachusetts.  

“I spend the majority of my time here so I felt that it was more important to have more of a say in the government here in Syracuse.”

Other students like Sophia Martin recognize the importance of millennials to start voting.

“We live in a democratic country and if we’re not sharing our votes then our elected officials, it’s not going to be our opinions and its not representative of how people generally feel in society.”

The Huntington Hall polling station will be open until 9 P.M. tonight so it is not too late to submit your vote or register for the next election.
