HERE IN NORTH SYRACUSE NEIGHBORS WERE UP EARLY, AND WHILE MOST PEOPLE WALKING IN THE DOORS WERE OVER EIGHTEEN, SOME BROUGHT ALONG THE YOUNGER ONES IN THEIR FAMILY…

“I think it’s important for everyone to go out there and vote and the younger you take children to see how the process works, the better it is then when they become adults”

WHILE VOTERS MAY HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS FROM ONE ANOTHER, PEOPLE LIKE DAVID LISITO SAY IT’S A PRIVILEGE TO BE ABLE TO VOICE THEM…

“It’s our right to be able to say who runs our government and who makes our decisions for us so there are representatives… you look around the world and see other people who don’t have that right, so it’s very important.”

WHILE TURNOUT FOR MIDTERMS IN 2018 WAS HIGHER THAN THE PREVIOUS MIDTERM ELECTIONS… VOTERS LIKE NANCY SAY EVEN MORE PEOPLE SHOULD CAST THEIR BALLOT…

“Every vote affects everything, you can’t just say “oh it’s midterms, it doesn’t matter” because it does… those people are gonna be in office for 4 years, 2 years…”

(NORTH SYRACUSE, N.Y.) Voters across New York state traveled to their respective polling places this morning to cast their ballots in the midterm elections.

North Syracuse residents such as Nancy Mack even brought along her grandchildren to show them America’s system of democracy.

“I think it’s important for everyone to go out there and vote,” said Mack. “The younger you take children to see how the process works, the better it is then when they become adults.”

While Mack has voted a number of times throughout her life, others are voting for the first time.

23-year-old Phoenix Corbin said he felt he was ready to come out to the polls because he wanted to cast his vote for those who help disabled Americans such as himself.

“I feel like people are becoming more and more aware of disabled Americans,” said Corbin “Getting out to vote what we feel is best counts just as much as the next person.”

David Losito, a voter from Cicero, said part of why he’s at the polls is that other people don’t have the same privilege.

“You look around the world and see other people who don’t have that right, so it’s very important,” said Losito.

Polls in New York State close at 9:00PM EST
