Voters Come to the Polls Early to Make Their Voices Heard

SYRACUSE N.Y. – At Nottingham High School in Syracuse, NY, voters lined up to complete their civic duty before the sun had a chance to rise. With polls opening at approximately 6 am, people lined up at the pollen station as early as 5:30 in the morning.
The reason why so many came early is to beat the rush later in the day. Many workers also need to take advantage of the early times to make their shifts. Syracuse Resident, Danny Adams, believes voting in the morning is the best time possible.
“If you get to the polls early, you can get here before the crowds. It is nice and quiet now,” Adams said.
For Adams and others, beating the afternoon crowds was not the only reason to vote on election day. As a man of color, Adams mentioned how he and others fought for the right to vote.
“It behooves you to vote, somebody died for that right,” he said
For Sam Szewczyk, voting early means he is allowed to spend more time with his son.
He said, “I have a full day with my son today, and getting to vote early means I can spend time with him.”
Although many different people come to vote for many different reasons, across Central New York, people want to make their voices heard on Election Day.
