Liverpool Voters State Importance Of Voting This Election
By Jacob Bernardini
LIVERPOOL N.Y. – Voters across the country are making their voices heard in the 2022 midterms. One of those communities is the suburb of Liverpool, where voters gathered at Redeemer Covenant Church to cast their votes on a variety of races and proposals.
The issues for voters differed Jiawen Zhen said that he was concerned about climate change and how we protect the environment. Chelsey Portaleos was concerned about education and what was being taught in local schools.
But for many voters they had a strong sense of voting in the election. Chelsey Portaleos voted with her children watching and said it was important for them to understand the process.
“Its just important to know what you’re voting for and why. And you know I have my oldest is fifteen so she’s not far along from being able to vote herself and I just want to show her you know what to do how to do it and why its important,” Portaleos said.
For Jiawen Zhen he believes that the election is the best way to get your voice heard.
“You can protest and do what you can as much as you want but ultimately it comes down to the ballot putting your signature and filling out those bubbles are what really matters in this world right now,” Zhen said.
The issues for many voters may change throughout Liverpool, but voting in this election was one thing everyone could agree on.
