SYRACUSE, N.Y. (DIA) – Voters have been voting all day here in Onondaga County with voters taking to the polls today. A lot of voters who came out today such as Catherine Fiore said it more necessary than ever this year that people vote.
“Everybody in this country is in danger as it’s important to vote. And as we’ve seen in the past and in some current election. We’re in trouble here,” said Fiore.
Fiore is not the only one who takes pride in voting so does Bob Richardson.
“I think it’s very important that, you know, for our country and in our democracy, you have to vote. I feel that if you don’t vote you’re not privileged enough to complain about things,” said Richardson
Democratic candidate Rachel May is running for re-election in the New York State Senate in district 48. May is going up against republican candidate Julie Abbott. She is also encouraging everyone to get out and vote today.
“Just vote! You know, it is so important that we get everybody’s voice. And I have worked really hard to make it easier vote in New York. We’ve had early voting now the last ten days,” said May.
Yesterday, May said she went knocking on people’s doors and getting people to vote who originally weren’t planning on it. Now for election day today, May is going around today just visiting polling locations and thanking poll workers for their work.
