Election day is an important day for many Americans, and this year’s midterm election is no exception. This year’s voters said they are extremely motivated to cast their ballot. Some voters said they believe they have the power to change our future.

Martha Walsh, retiree, spoke about the importance of every American citizen getting out their and making their vote count, regardless of their respective political party.

“Because it’s the basis of our democracy, its the individual person speaking about his or hers desire for government,” said Walsh.

Walsh said that although people have differing opinions and views, the power of one vote has the ability to usher in change or keep the status quo.

Another reason that people get out and vote during this midterm election has to do with how certain policies affect people at a personal level. Janice Burns, a chef, explained her personal reason for voting during this election.

“Well women rights, you don’t want people who worked hard now they can’t get medicare, people who need medicate won’t be able to get it even if you have an existing medical problem, you should be able to get some type of health insurance,” said Burns.

This years midterm election brings people to the voting booths to exercise their basic right to vote.

Tonight the polls will close at 9 pm.
