YOU HAVE TO BE INVOLVED IN WHATEVER IT IS YOU LIKE TO SEE CHANGE OR REMAIN THE SAME IN ORDER TO AFFECT ANY CHANGE SO THIS IS THE PLACE TO DO IT.”)

Since local elections can directly affect your area, many senior citizens emphasized that this is the best opportunity to make change in your local communities and encouraged everyone that is eligible to vote to come out and vote.

Various signs and instructions at the voting site seemed to aid a lot of voters. Many voters expressed that their voting process went smoothly and all the poll workers were willing to help.    Ricky Lee N-C-C News.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (DiA) – Election day in Elmwood Elementary School started attracting more voters around the early afternoon. Gregory Goff has been the polling site manager for over 3 years now and he says local elections actually have more importance to people than other elections.

“Our local election is your most important election that you have but people don’t realize that because it affects you more directly than you know, national elections will,” he said.

Senior citizens like Ronnie and Barbara Leigh have been voting for over 50 years now and they said they have never missed a single election. The two emphasized how important it is for everyone who is eligible to come out and vote because this is the best way you can make a change in your local community.

Ronnie Leigh was concerned about not seeing a lot of young voters at the polling site. He said that the younger generations are the future of this town, this state, and this country and that they have to be more proactive in being involved to have an impact on local communities.

“I think a lot of times young people are complaining about why can’t we do this or why can’t we have that. Why isn’t this in a certain way? This is how you can do it. You have to be involved in whatever it is you like to see change or remain the same in order to affect any change so this is the place to do it,” he said.

Barbara Leigh added by saying that people who don’t vote should not complain because they did not take the action to make changes in their community so they shouldn’t get to complain.

Many senior citizens found it relatively easy to cast their votes with the help of all the poll workers. In addition, there were numerous signs and instructions on how to vote around the polling site which helped a lot of the voters.
