NORTH SYRACUSE, N.Y. (Democracy in Action)  – The North Central Church saw high voter traffic starting from the early morning hours. Enthusiastic voters swarmed in to cast their votes and help shape the future of the nation.

Kavitha Lal and her husband live in Liverpool. They first voted 20 years ago when they gained citizenship, and have voted in every election since.

“It is our duty to vote. People criticize, but here we are given the choice, and we are exercising that choice,” Lal said. But this election is unlike others she has voted in.

“I have never seen anything like this before. There was so much name calling and hardly any discussion about the issues,” she said.

Cindy Callahar voted for Hillary Clinton.

“I am 67, and I will never be 67 again. She stands for my ideals and maybe no one will stand for my ideals in my lifetime again,” she said.
