SKANEATELES, N.Y. – A first time voter almost wasn’t able to vote in today’s presidential election at the Skaneateles Volunteer Fire Department.  18-year-old Dana Leahy just moved from Rhode Island and was able to register just in time with New York State.

For Leahy, it was worth the effort, “I think it’s really important for people to vote, they should take advantage of the democratic process that not all countries have. It’s a privilege that we are lucky to have in America,” Leahy said.

For Leahy, taking part in today’s election was about than than  just the Presidential race.   “I’ve done my research on the more local candidates and congress,” Leahy said.
